Hey there.

silly question i guess...

if i'm trying to record a guitar (plugged into just a podxt, which is then connected via usb to my laptop) on cubase, what do i do?!

audio/midi tracks, etc?

nothing seems to pick up anything...

any help would be appreciated.

cheers

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I had similar issues. I think you have to have the drivers for the POD for it to work via USB on a pc. The POD XT I bought came with a CD but it was some software for the mac and my pc wouldn't even recognize it. If you go to the Line6 website, there may be some kind of driver for the PC that will allow you to record through the USB, otherwise just get an interface (if you don't already have one) and pug the POD into that with a standard 1/4" cable. I think they may have only put the USB jack on the POD, unless you have a mac, is so you can upgrade the firmware. I could be way off, so hopefully someone else chimes in with some info, I'm curious too. ;)

yeah i think you'll need drivers and then do setup under devices in cubase.... check the manual for particulars...

thanks guys. although i sorted it a different way - I forgot to turn the POD on! haha

turns out, u just need to select the pod under device setup on cubase - i tried this originally and it wouldn't work, but when I realised the pod wasnt tunred on I did so and it worked :P

I'll see myself out...

cheers :D

Oh shit, I never tried that. You're saying you just plugged the POD in to the comp through the USB (without loading any driver software), and it worked when you selected it in Cubase?

cool.. glad it's working but am surprised it did'nt need drivers....

yeah it works fine - although i think u need to download a driver from line6, but it comes free anyway, and theres no extra hardware needed.

Is there any difference in sound quality between the USB and the 1/4" outs? I'm going to try this when I get home...

I think the only problem with the PodXT is you can't monitor the track while you record it (using USB), so you will have to use an amp or headphones.
And by the way, even if you don't need headphones, leave them plugged in, the sound is better at the outputs.
Sounds crazy, but try it, you will hear a difference.
