--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so I have my LEGIT SX3 (you have to specify these things nowadays! lol), but on my laptop, I am getting dropouts when I record with the Firepod. I have 2 Gig of RAM on a Acer Sempron 3000+ Mobile with XP SP2. I think this thing is roughly 1.7 Ghz but it seems more than capable of recording without a dropout. It is like every 45 seconds or so, there is a memory spike that causes recording interference. I brought the latency up to 6ms, still recording 44.1 24 bit, is there any way of knowing what is causing the CPU use to dart up to like 80% for a split second like that every so often. I am not even using VST effects or have any other tracks playing. The drive is formatted FAT32 and I think it is 7200, but not entirely sure... It is the Inspire 1363 series... Any ideas?

Thanks!

Only thing I can suggest is to monitor all aspects of your system. Most of the time it's not an issue with Cubase, but a program you have no idea is running.

Ok, is it a memory spike or a CPU spike (or both). Open your Windows task manager to find out. Make sure to turn off any programs that may be running in the background. As stated above, it's most likely some errant program causing these spikes.

Actually found out that it is probably my onboard firewire that's crapping out at 400 speed. I think the firepod could use 800- Lacie Cardbus on its way!!!

Also I found out about a patch for SP2 something about it limiting the firewire devices!!! Has to send that part back to SP1...ahhh microsoft :D
