I am using an SW1000XG which works fine in XGEdit, but Cubase SL (dongled, not a cracked version) totally freezes the PC. At random times, only in Cubase, the system freezes with no mouse movement. Sometimes while loading, sometimes while playing, sometimes without even a project loaded, just navigating menus. Cubase SL seems to be the only app which crashes. I have uninstalled the sound card drivers then installed the latest Yamaha WDM Drivers, followed by the Yamaha ASIO2.0 drivers from xgfactory.com.
Here's my setup:
CPU: Athlon XP2800+ 2GHz
Board: Shuttle FN41, nForce Crush 18G.NG & MCP2.SB chipset
(the board has on-board GeForce2 Gfx, Realtek Audio, LAN and 1394)
512 Mb DDR RAM, 80Gb ATA IDE HD
OS: Windows XP Pro, version 5.1 service pack 1
Cubase: SL Version 1.06 (fully legit version with USB dongle)
I've tried disabling the onboard sound card - no difference.
I previously had this version of Cubase working on another machine which never crashed (although did have clicks and pops on recording). I've had this stuff for 2 years now and still haven't got it working properly!!
Any help would be *greatly* appreciated.
