Cubase screwing up tempo

Hello all. Last week I posted a problem about importing a MIDI file into Cubase but I couldnt explain it well so you couldnt help much. I think I can guide you better this time tho :drunk:

I use Guitarpro, which for those not familiar with it, basically reproduces MIDI tracks (each one assigned to an instrument). What I want to do, and actually managed to, is export the drums MIDI track to use with a VST within Cubase to make it sound better. Later on I can record real guitars, etc. and make a "real" song.

Ok so, inside the Guitarpro software, the drums have a bpm of 108 and start at the right time.. However, when I import the MIDI in Cubase, choose the ezdrummer VST, etc. and hit play, for some reason the drums are accelerated, so it starts way before than it should.

I cant figure out why it does that. If I play the MIDI track with windows media, it sounds just like inside guitarpro  My guess is it has something to do with the metronome or something like that, but I cant find what is causing the problem. I'm new to this whole thing and it's a huge piece of software, so forgive me if it's a silly question :o Thank you very much :o

Possibly a sample rate mismatch issue? I know that when I load up a tune with MIDI drums, if the output sample rate of the MIDI instrument doesn't match the project, the drums generally end up twice as fast and really plinky plonky sounding (ie doubled in pitch). For some reason there's this stupid thing in Cubase where I have to open, close, and then reopen to get it to work properly or the sample rates are all out of whack.

Sorry if this isn't too clear. Someone else might be able to articulate it better than me. It also might not solve your particular problem, but probably worth checking out...

You should be able to adjust the tempo in Cubase to 108. It's on the transport.

Yeah but for some reason the drums are at 108 at the beginning of the song and when it reaches the half of the song they are at 125. It cant be possible that the MIDI track tells Cubase to do so because in GuitarPro it's not possible to have different tempos throughout the song.

It's driving me crazy.

Switch the tempo to from 'track' to 'fixed' in the transport bar and then enter it.

yep i experianced the same and made the above suggested changes and it worked for me good call guys
