First of all, hello to you all ;-)

Second of all, i will discribe my hard/software
Hardware
Laptop: Dell studio xps m1330 running vista home premium
Soundcard: Internal Sigmatel HD audio
Jacks: 2x 3.5mm out & 1x 3.5mm in
Headphone: BlueVision
Mic: 2 Internal inscreen
Software
Cubase 5 trail with halionone & asio directx full duplex driver
Input busses: LEFT microphonematrix (Sigmate...something can't see) VSL In - Stereo in - Left
RIGHT microphonematrix (Sigmate...something i can't see) Stereo in - Right
Output busses: LEFT Speakers/headphone monitor 1 - left stereo out - left
RIGHT Speakers/headphone monitor 1 - right stereo out - right
Control room - Enable - monitor 1 - asio directx full duplex
LEFT Speakers/headphone monitor 1 - left stereo out - left
RIGHT Speakers/headphone monitor 1 - right stereo out - right

Well i think that are the ones important to know.

Short Explanation of the problem - When recording within cubase, also the mics are recorded...i don't want this! i only want line-in.

Longer Explanation of the problem:
I have this problem since installing, been fiddling around for a few days but just can't find the solution...
When i want to record in cubase, i can record my project, but also everything from the 2 microphones are recorded.
For recording i use the dashboard/keyboard (red record button)...

This annoys me big-time!! I don't want to sit still and be quiet when recording a simple mix...i do not need to record voice...but it does
I can remove the mic from hardware in vista...
I can change bussess...
Read some topics on google, but whatever i do, if i change input settings or mic setting in vista, i cant record anything, its just quiet. (on audio within cubase)
The moment i put everything normal, the problem re-occurs...

So now its a choice between not recording anything, or recording everything including the sounds in my room...remember that if output is via speakers...its all a big reverb :-P

I'm getting a bit lost, i read the documentation, searched topics but i just can't find the solution :@

Sidenote: Line-in and microphone seems to be combined on this laptop??

I hope somebody can help me out!
In advance thanks for your time and patience!

Kind regards,
Sebastian

Under "Devices" up top, choose "VST Inputs" and turn on the ones you want. It sounds like they aren't the line ins aren't on.

Then select the proper inputs on each track.

Hope that helps. :)

Double click the speaker in the lower right corner of your screen.
Click Options - Properties
Check the mixer device is correct and choose recording.
Under 'show the following volume controls' check all the boxes
Then select line in for recording and make sure mic is not selected.
