I am running cubase sx4 and am trying to record with mics through my m-audio fast track pro usb. I go to devices, then vst audiobay and then I try to set the M-audio asio driver to "M-Audio usb asio" (this is the only m audio option there.)

Then I click switch and it says " The asio sample rate is not supported by one of the usb interfaces. Please check your sync settings in control panel."

Then i click ok and it says "Audio engine error: cannot activate asio driver M-audio usb asio"

then i click ok and it does not change to the M audio usb.

Please help I am totally held up in recording here :(

And what is asio??

Thanks

Jon

there should be a setting somewhere that deals with sample rate. Set it to 44.1kHz or 44100 Hz

I have it set to 44100 Hz in the cubase control panel and it still is not working.

Google ASIO4ALL

download and see if that fixes it. Its a better ASIO driver than the m audio one.

Do i really need to do that since the m audio works well with audacity but just not cubase. It was working before with cubase but has quit now.

Any other alternatives in case this does not work?

ps- thanks so much for the help. i really want to record some stuff.

check in windoz controll panel and see if there's an icon for the interface and check the settings there to make sure they arer the same as under cubase...

Wow it works. I had to go to asio4all.com and dl the english version. then i had to install it and then run cubase. Go to devices and then device settings the vst options then set the asio driver to asio4all v2. Then go to the icon that comes up in the bottom corner and double click. then set it to your external sound card.

Thanks so much for the help.
