cubase 'new guy' here

alright, i bought cubase on word of mouth and it looks like a great program. got everything hooked up...delta 1010, p4 2.4gz w/ 512 ram, 80 gb...

right out of the gate i notice about a second of latency monitoring through cubase. is this normal? any quick cures before looking at external monitoring solutions?

sounds like ur using mme drivers insteacd of asio - look at the asio set up in cubase (under audio functions) u should be able to get right down to 10m/s or so with ur set up

You can change your latency by adjusting the buffering in the ASIO control panel.

If you get it down to 10 ms, you shouldn't even notice it.

Delta 1010

Just purchased the same card 3 days ago and with no tweaks and using the most recent M Audio Delta ASIO driver - produces 9ms of latency.
