i am new to the whole recording thing, and i bought a digitech rp355 pedal that had cubase le4 with it. i cannot seem to get it to record and the harder i try the more it irritates. all i want to do is record with it and get it to playback through the computer speakers. is there someone out there that can simplify the way to do this to someone that is below par with computers. i would appreciate it

Describe your exact set up in more detail please if you want meaningful answers... are you for instance using an amp and and microphone, into an interface or are you somehow plugging your effects pedal straight into your PC...?

i am plugging the pedal directly through usb. there are no mics or amps involved yet. i am trying to lay down some guitar tracks, but the system is not monitoring and it is not playing back the recording when i select the option to playback. if u need more, let me know

Not sure, but most likely, you cannot playback through your computer speakers if the RP is you selected device in Cubase. You have to monitor through the RP... I'm guessing with headphones, does it outputs for speakers??

probably would, but what about the monitoring? i do not know if there is a signal being accepted to the pc

Look at the top two threads in the Cubase forum, they explain how to set up your hardware in cubase as well as setting a track to record.

Like Chili said though you will only be able to hear through the outs on your pedal. The pedal is replacing all the functions of your soundcard.
Here's a pdf I found specific to your pedal that covers all the basics from installing driversto setting up Cubase.
