Hey everyone,

Wonder if someone can help me. I recently purchased a ZOOM G2.1Nu pedal (which is awesome I have to say) but I cannot get the Cubase LE4 software to work and I cannot get the e-Licenser to recognise that I have the pedal.

I have tried to install the software but it didn't work. I have looked high and low for a software key on the stuff which was incldued in the box but there was nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can get this software working??

Cheers folks.

Cubase LE4 and eLicenser

Hey Chili,

I've been through that site left, right and centre and still cannie find the answer I need.

Thanks anyway man!

Sorry then. There are a few people around who might have an answer. Just give them time to see your post, hopefully someone can help in the next few days.

Good luck.

So what steps have you taken?

I've since upgraded to the full version of 5 but this is what I remember about 4LE.

You install it, it also installs some license software.
you sign up at steinberg and register,
You get an e-mail with an activation code.

I got mine with a Zoom H4 and it had very detailed instructions on the whole process.

Hey TetraFish,

Basically I have downloaded the eLicenser software and installed that but it does not recognise the ZOOM G2.1Nu, I have installed Cubase LE4 software from provided disc, I have registered with Steinberg and activated my account but nowhere does it mention an SEL code, activation code or anything which is helping me to get access to the software itself.

Any ideas?

I think you need to register Cubase on the steinberg site and get an activation code. I forget the exact sequence but I know you need a code from steinberg.

Cubase or the eLicenser software shouldn't care about the zoom.

First:

Can you even get cubase to run at all?

Second:

Did you install any drivers that came with your zoom?

Third:

LE should still launch without the e licencer, it will just be limited in how many times you can launch it without registering it. Tetrafish is right, that is how you authorise LE, the licence can either go on a stienberg key or your computer. Your zoom has NOTHING to do with whether or not cubase LE 4 will launch or not. You can literally run cubase LE 4 with nothing attached to your computer audio hardware wise.

Fourth:

I need the above answered before we can go here. ;)

Hey TetraFish,

The only activation code I got for from Steinberg was for my account but nothing in relation to the soft e-Licenser as far as I can see and the eLCC has nothing in it at all.

Hey Guitargodgt,

When I run Cubase LE4 in the bottom left corner it tells me to register so I did that but then the only activation code coming in relates to the account but that's as far as I can get

Only one CD with ZOOM which was for Cubase LE4 although I have downloaded ZOOM edit and share software to be able to tweak pedal adjustments but that shouldn't affect it, right?

Doesn't run at all - wants me to register.

Any ideas? This is likely to be me just being stupid but I cannie figure it out.

Thanks all for your help so far, hopefully we can find a solution.

The dongle I got has the code printed right on it.

Have you tried contacting Zoom and Steinberg?

Warning: Steinberg did something incredibly stupid, all in the name of greed. In the last say 10 years, they decided to give away basic versions of Cubase in bundles with other manufacturers gear, like Zoom. Money, money, money! :D

What they didn't see coming (DUH!) was that the customer service required because of that would basically tie up their phone lines forever. Because of this, a few months back they decided to not answer their phone anymore - genius! So if you want to talk to them it has to start by email.

OK, I found this, maybe it will help.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After installing Cubase LE you can use the program for 30 days without any restrictions. After this period, you will have to register your program, otherwise, Cubase LE will not run anymore.

Proceed as follows to register your program:

1. Open the Syncrosoft License Control Center (which can be found in the Start/Programs menu under Windows or in the Applications folder on a Mac).
2. Write down the number of the eLicenser for Cubase LE displayed in the Syncrosoft License Control Center.
3. Launch Cubase LE and select the Registration option from the Help menu. The “My Steinberg” section on the Steinberg web site is opened.
4. Follow the instructions on the web site to create a user account. You will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm the creation of your account in order to activate it. Just click on the confirmation link in the email. After the confirmation, you will be able to log in to the Steinberg customer area.
5. Go back to “My Steinberg” on the Steinberg web site, log in to your account and enter the number of the eLicenser for Cubase LE. You will receive an email with the activation code for Cubase LE.
6. In the Syncrosoft License Control Center open the Wizards menu and select the “License Download” option.Follow the instructions and enter your Cubase LE activation code.
7. Congratulations! You have successfully licensed and registered your program and are now entitled to technical support and kept aware of updates and other news regarding Cubase LE.

Hey Tetrafish

This is the problem man, there is no number in the eLicenser software - just a set of keys which says my licences but there is nothing else! So the other steps will work I am sure but I don't have any eLicenser numbers! Pain in the rump this is eh?!

The software doesn't even let me run it for 30 days, no access at all!

Hey dintymoore,

Ahhhhhhh! I have emailed both ZOOM and Steinberg and shock-a-rooney as yet no response! I await with bated breath! But that makes a little more sense now, probably just a duff crappy version.

Cheers guys,
G-DOG! :spank:

Am I going to have to buy a dongle?? Is that the scam at £16!

G-DOG :spank:

If you haven't already, maybe post and search over at http://www.cubase.net/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=24

My guess is that if the Zoom didn't come with a card with the number on it or the dongle doesn't have a number that you won't get into Cubase.

Maybe try and phone Zoom.

Also - I recall something about needing to install Cubase and the eLicenser programs with the dongle not attached, and then attaching it after. You might want to check to see if that's the case.

Hey dintymoore

That's the crux of the matter I think there is no dongle or number on anything so I just cannie get in which sucks!!

Will hopefully hear from ZOOM soon.

Cheers,
G-DOG :spank:

Yeah, you shouldn't need a dongle. I did mine via software. It is odd you cant use it for 30 days though.

Yeah, like Tetra said, there is no dongle for LE4. For sure, there is something else going on that we are not aware of. You should be able to get this stuff to work pretty easily.

Have you seen this thread?

good luck.

Cheers Chili,

I will check this out and see what I can get from them!

Solution!!

Hey all,

Hope this finds everyone well. Following much thought, research and commentary a wonderful person at Steinberg contacted me and after a few emails has figured out my problem ... apparently my system wasn't set up to allow the properly downloading of the software.

Rather than try and post it I have attached the email I received which solved my problem.

Hope no one else experiences this because it has been really frustrating but a solution and conclusion has been reached.

Many thanks to everyone who replied to this and you were all right, the only thing was a fundamental problem with my hardware.

Thank you all,
G-Dog :spank:
