I am not sure if i am having a cubase problem or something is wrong with my firepod. Every thing was working fine when i had it all set up at my office. So I decied to take it home. Well I set it all back up, and created a new project. I then proceded to add a audio track for a vocal. Then I add another audio track then I imported an audio cd track. I clicked grab and when it was finshed i clicked ok. Well then I continued to record the vocal with the track as i listed to the cd through the headphones the cd track was skipping and poping and cracking. I have no ideal what the problem is. I also unhooked the firepod and did the same steps as above to see what would happen if I just played it back through the computer speakers. And guess what no skipping or poping or cracking on the cd track that I imported. What could i be doing wrong or is this a hardware or software problem.

Thanks for your help

It is a hardware problem. Having experienced the same thing, and not knowing your specifics, I can tell you to check 2 things.

1. The Amount of RAM your CPU has. You should have about a gig at least. The skipping is caused by too much going on at once, and your computer cant handle it.

2. Hard drive space and recording location. If you have a small or full hard drive as your destination folder, you will experince skipping in playback of tracks. It will move into the recording side of it as you fill up. The area you want to make your destination folder in should have at least 100GB for lots of headroom.

I honestly think it sounds like the second one. Me and my fireposd have had lots of fun in the short time i have had her, so I hope this helps, keep me posted!

Are you recording to a secondary (i.e. NOT your OS drive), dedicated fast (7200rpm) hard drive???

If not, you should....

First of all i do have 1 gig of ram. And no I am not recording to a secondary hardrive

Hey man, try to raise your latency, that helped for me. I heard that depending on your computer, you might not be able to work with the latency you are using now. I had a messed up firepod at first, i sent it back and got a new one, no problems now.
