I have a Presonus Firestudio Project. It came with Cubase LE4. I have plugged away with it for a year now. My music is all acoustic/bluegrass oriented. I use the VST plugin that came with LE4 for my bass tracks (Upright Bass setting). At mixdown the bass is always flabby and boomy. No amout of compression or EQ seems to fix it. I also use a Rode NT 1a mic for acoustic and vocals. The entire finial mix always seems boomy and lackluster with no volume, no matter what i do. I have a gut feeling that this equipment can do a lot more than I am getting out of it, but I just can't find the secret.... any suggestions.
