I'm a new Cubase user... I have no clue what so ever how to even use the program. Anyway I just bought Battery and it says it works as a stand alone product, Now i don't really know how to use cubase so how would I use Battery as a standalnne product...

Also I have no Idead how to add a new track to cubase, You know like track one track to and such...

Thanx

Hi! When NI says Battery is a stand alone product, it means that you do not have to have Cubase or another sequencer to run it. You just start it up, and you can play/edit sounds from there. But-- you probably want to use it with Cubase, in order to program a drum track. In that case, there should be a VST version that was installed when you installed the program. Put that in your VST Instruments folder. Start up Cubase, and select Battery as a VST instrument (it's in the manual). At that point, you should be able to program drums through your keyboard or in the editor, and have the track play back through Battery. I use a Mac, so the steps/folders may be a little different, but that's pretty much how you do it. Battery is a GREAT drum sampler-- I love it! Good luck.

There are a couple of different ways to add a track.

1. Select "Create Track" from the Structure menu. (shortcut CTRL-T in the PC version) This creates a track the same type as the selected track.

2. Double-click in the arrange window in an empty area of the track list. (Below all the other tracks.)

After adding the track, you may need to change it to a different type---audio, MIDI, drum track, etc. You can do this by clicking on the "C" column for the track. "C" is for Class.

After you have added your track you will need to assign the midi to Battery. This is real simple do this:

Click Panels (menu) - click VST Instruments

in this window click on the red square in the top left hand corner if it is not lit (this turns it on)

then click in the drop down box where it says instrument, this should open up a list of your installed VSTi's, select Battery!

You need to have done the above FIRST!!!

Back to the arrangement window!

In the midi track that you have created, you need to route your "output" to battery, just click the output section and battery will be listed there.

Now if you go back to the VST Instruments window and click edit for the battery section, you will open up the gui for battery!

Hope this helps u out! ;o)

I use battery a lot, it is a wicked instrument! I think it is the best that NI have developed!!!
