I posted a topic a few months back about static during playback. It doesn't matter if I have a few tracks or several. It also doesn't matter if it's audio, VST instruments or both. I don't use very much processer power when it happens. I have done about all the optimization (W7 / PC) that I can think of. I have 8gb of RAM and my current processer is an AMD Phenon Quad Core. Should be enough.

I got one clue and I don't know what to make of it. I went into the device set up window and then into the system link window. Up top, I click on anything and the static goes away momentarily. I believe this is the section where you can link more than one computer. The static eventually comes back.

Can anyone give me some insight on this potential clue?

What interface are you using and how is it hooked up?
Whats your signal chain?
were going to need more info to help you

Crackling noises during playback can be caused by having a buffer setting that's too high. A dirty pot on your interface could do the same thing.

What interface are you using and how is it hooked up?

M-Audio FTP. Hooked to CPU via USB2. During playback, no instruments are going through the interface. My latency is set at 512. I used to have it at 256, but as I added channels and effects, things were ugly.

Whats your signal chain?

Help me out here. Not sure if I understand; I'm no sound engineer. I run all audio through a presonus studio channel which goes through the interface via a one foot XLR. It doesn't seem to matter if I have a few channels of several. It also doesn't seem to matter if I have only a couple inserts going. I hope the answer to what you're looking for is in here.
