At first Cubase 7.0.6 64bit on my ASUS-INTEL I7 PC worked reasonably well, although the Yamaha 64bit Studio Manager wont load the Yamaha 01v96i device editor as it does correctly with Cubase 5. After rearranging, reloading the folder C:\Users\Jack\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Cubase 7_64, and also even reinstalling Cubase 7 completely, it crashes loading the same projectfile i am working on: this file worked over and over again before for about 2 weeks. Now all of a sudden the project file crashes Cubase while loading MixConsole, on FX channels, and Audio channels, it varies each new loading attempt it seems, after restarting Cubase. Is there a trick or way to bypass or reset the loading of the mixconsole? - I want so save at least the track data to go back to an older version of Cubase. Right now i feel i wasted quite a bit of first of all TIME, but also money, on a malfunctioning piece of expensive software where we as paying customers are treated as beta testers for Steinberg's buggy stuff (once again?) .. -F

Hopefully GN will be here to give some advice soon.

Read my last line before you do anything.

From my limited experience with these things, it seems you have an issue regarding your controller and or the preferences when you upgraded.

Have you tried deleting your Preference folder yet? It is a known problem that Cubase updates/upgrades will use the preference folder from an earlier version and screw stuff up. Actually, it is more than a known problem, and usually a necessity if you have an earlier version of Cubase already installed. I'm not even sure it is not an issue if you deleted previous versions.

Just try Deleting the whole folder, then restart Cubase. If you have settings you with to save, then copy them to a desktop folder and drag them in later.

In Cubase 7 you can do this in safe-start mode by pressing <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<Alt> during program startup. It will give you instructions. 'Disable program preferences' will temporarily start Cubase with default preferences so that you can see if that is the issue.

Hi Jimmy, all stuff i tried before, and Cubase's setups and pref files is something always messing up with different versions. But i just found the (graphics missing) cause, i de-installed and re-installed the c++ visual basics, 2005,2008,2010,2012, both 32 and 64 bit versions, and it works again, eureka. -- BUT the 01v96i editor still doesn't load and work from within Cubase 7 and 7.5. if you start Cubase 5 it does however, also the 64bit version within 32 bit Cubase. I tried another, Yamaha 01v96VCM, not the i-version as i just bought; that loads OK. I am still wondering why Steinberg - Yamaha never tested this Studio Manager and 01v96i editor-driver combination properly; i specially bought this Yamaha desk because it was supposed to work integrated from within Cubase 7 as i saw with the older versions and a 02R desk. - I tried to find support "contact-us" addresses for either Steinberg or Yamaha, but they don't seem to give any "support" at all. - thanks, -F
