Yes sir. Wasn't happy with the 7.0.1 "fix" though.

Botch.

I snagged the padshop pro upgrade. Man that is one of the most fantastic instruments I have ever looked at that has been included in a recording program.

a new patch is reported to be coming out monday.

I haven't but anticipate doing so this week.

Any terrible issues been going on with it? I haven't really researched much.

After doing a little reading on the Steinberg forums though, maybe I'll wait it out and stick with 6 a little longer till 7 has been made a bit more stable and get an external hard-drive for projects instead...

It is here, and many are already bitching...

The same people who complain all the time. I don't get it myself. Except for a few workflow glitches (and one big stupid turd of vmx files gone in 7.1.0), it is extremely stable.

"I can't get it to download"/"Takes to long to load"/"I want colors in my mixer"/"Why won't the Hub connect?".... I am not so sure about everyone else, but I like it because it works for me. Every time.

I'm just going to shut up now. I already vented a bit at steiney.

Some people are just not me...:)

I love C7 myself.

Ah, well, you've never led me astray so I'll take your word on it!

The only thing that really concerned me was that there are people over at the steinberg forums complaining about VST issues. Performance spiking/shutdowns and it losing the VST path.
Is it that bad on your end?

And... VMX Files?
I'll be honest. I have no clue what that means to my workflow.

Well, there are always people there, complaining about stuff like that. Keep in mind, that people that post there, are usually having problems. When you don't have problems, well, most people don't care to share.

I have absolutely no issues at all now.

vmx files are a way to store mixer settings. You can save a whole session, or a single channels inserts, eq and such. Comes in real handy when recording a whole project, and want to use the same setup for another track, for a different song or session. Many of us depend on it. The first update, which was more of a beta test thing (Steinberg calls then 'unsupported updates'), had some serious issues. The thing is, if you use Cubase in a professional setting, you already know better than to update your software in the middle of a project. Those who don't realize how stupid this is to try, are the same ones bitching about Cubase, and likely do not have their systems working correctly anyway. I seriously get the feeling, every time I hear someone complaining about their systems not working right with Cubase, that they are using things they probably have no right using in the first place. It just does not make sense that I have never had any issues, aside from little glitches, and so many seem to never get the software to work. There has to be something going on there....

I just had a guy on the Steiny forum, say that I don't know anything, because it is an upgrade issue. That unless I upgraded from each version, that I would not have the problem. Guess what? I have upgraded since LE4, and never had an issue. Take what people there say as 'their' issues, and don't think it as truth.

Just the other day, there was a guy complaining about CPU spikes, and blaming Cubase for the problem. It was a wireless mouse driver, from a previous wireless one, he no longer used, that caused the problem. I had similar with a KVM switch that suddenly went bad. $400 later, I figured out the problem. I could have gone whining on their forum about how crappy Cubase was, but I know better than that. Most do not, and blame the easiest thing to blame it on.

Ok, I'm done. :)

I bought a new hex core a few months ago because my old PC wouldn't keep up with Cubase 6.5.

I have had no issues with Cubase 7, and I installed 7.0.2 last night.

I use this a lot. Needed it for a recent project and was bummed they took it out.

It was still there, and functional in 7.0.0. The unsupported 7.2.0 update, screwed it all up. It was an oversight by the software writers. 7.2.0 supported update has it back, but fader volume and pan is not saved. Another oversight. Not sure how much these code writers get paid, but I assume that it is not enough. If they were paid well, they would have been fired by now.

A lot of if has to do with testing. I used to write code and hand it our secretary would do shit nobody would think of and break it. As far as pay goes, the germans like other Europeans might get paid well, but all that money gets sucked up in taxes, so nobody keeps a lot over there.
When I lived in Germany I was amazed how much the lowest employees were taxed. McDonald's french fry flippers were taxed at a 35% rate as were maids.
the rate went all the way up to 80%. Not to mention a 17 percent value added tax (VAT) that doubles the cost of almost everything you buy. That pays for all that "free" heath care. Sorry, don't get me on a rant.. :cursing:

Anyway, sorry you are having such problems with it.

If you post the exact conditions to their customer support, they might be able to help.

thanks

hello forum

there's a lot of things 7.2 has screwed up . mind you only another year to go until we get a stable version

This made me laugh... It is so obvious and basic -- but rarely happens in SW. I wish all SW testing contained the "go out and try to break this" phase near the end game of release. Back on topic now... I am having issues with C7 that were not there in C6.54, but since most were most likely self inflicted -- I know I will have to do the "master wipe and reinstall" of the PC before any whining begins......

I picked up Cubase Artist 7.0 a few months ago. I had not recorded in ages (Nuendo 2.0 was my last DAW). I felt that since I have been out of the loop (pun intended), I had a bit of catching up to do since I rarely used Software based instruments or plug ins the in the past. However, this little package was quite versatile. I do find that I need to upgrade my VST sounds used in the Halion SE and groove agent only comes with a handful of kits for rock n roll.

As I relearn everything I am pretty happy with Cubase... especially since its about $1800 cheaper than my last DAW! I even picked up the Steinberg CC121 controller which works seamlessly. I also have the Behringer BCF2000 and RME UFX. Everything seems to play very nice and the sound is terrific.

Perhaps i am doing something wrong but I still don't quite like the stock midi sounds (not sure what they are technically called, I know that we used to call them soundfonts or something back with Nuendo). I want a nicer sounding grand piano and strings. Perhaps there are some downloads or expansion packs I can pick up for cheap.

Still on Cubase 5 myself.
As much as Cubase 7 really looks feature packs and great, I still cant justify spending out more on software.

Its pretty cool. I watched a new training video (MacProVideo) last night called "Cubase 7 for Songwriters and Composers" It was a lot of basic stuff but had some stuff that will help me with my work flow, like applying FX to Midi files which I was too stupid to figure out before watching this.

Yeah, I'm on 6 still.
i just picked up Live 9 Suite and Push, so I can't really justify the upgrade right now. I love 6. And 7 will only get better with time. So... you know...

Actually I misspoke. applying FX to Instrument tracks with MIDI files, you can't apply them ot MIDI tracks. took me 45 minutes last night to learn that.. :D
