Too bad you couldn't get it to work.
 
A friend built a recording studio in the country. He hired me in and we had this problem. It turned out to be an electric fence on a nearby property. You might try moving your system to another location to check it. Somewhere in the city or at a friend's house. I hope this helps. Good Luck.
 
I had a similar problem upgrading to 7. It ended up being a VST plug-in having license issues.
