I just wondered the eq on cubase, do you know any good places to learn it for cubase? online? ive googled but for cubase 6 elements i cant find any, and when i watch tutorials they all have options and compressors and effects i dont have ? I just wondered if anyone hear uses cubase 6 and could perhaps shed some light on wether its ok for pro recordings..just im really happy with the sound am getting on it, but feel it lacks a bit in terms of vsts..i know cubase 6 elements is the lower area software..so dont know if am worth paying for cubase 6 upgrade..or am deluding myself?

I use cubase sx3
what are you trying to do with the eq?
What kind of vst's are you looking for ? There should be some reasonable ones that come with 6 elements surely. at least a fairly transparent compressor, reverbs, EQ.
If not google is your friend to search the net for free vst's
Less is more my friend or you could easliy overdo it and it just sounds to produced ok.
I should know i've been there.
Foresaking those that use a vocoder listen to your favorite rap artist and ask yourself
How much reverb can i hear (when the words are cut off fast listen and see)
Does it sound like he's stood infront of me in my face?
can you hear any compression?
Question are you using compression to even out the dynamic peaks in your vocal track?
If so consider using volume automation instead it takes time but its worth it in the long run.
Just a few thoughts. Hope this helps.

what vocoder would you recommend and what do these do?

25 yrs down the line from Cher's Believe and Will I Am is still flogging this dead horse.

DONT use a vocoder or auto tune its been done to death.

Keep it simple

yeah am trying to am just at my wits end..read book after book..dvd after dvd..can't get anywhere near to the sound i want..even paid for mixing mastering and been more unhappy :(

Vocoders are kickass. Auto tune (which sounds nothing alike) is lame as hell.

How can anyone not dig this?

Also OP:

The eq inside elements is the same as it is for the full version and all versions prior (all the way back to version 1 SX/studio/LE etc...)

It's just a simple 4 band no frills eq. the ONLY difference between yours and the one in the full version is there are different types of filters on each band, or more of them anyway. But it doesn't mean your eq is that much more crippled over the full version. Actually I'm willing to bet most people stick with the standard filters.

Most people are reaching for 3rd party stuff when they want a compressor or eq.
