Hi everyone, I have made this account so that I could ask a question that I have been searching the internet for hours for the answer now.
I have recently bought a new sound card for my computer after blowing up the old one stupidly and have been doing some recording with my guitar through a microphone. The problem is that I have selected the correct input device port so that it can work with my new sound card (an Audigy one); The input device port shows "Microphone [SB Audigy]" - 1 which is correct. However with the output device port I am having a problem selecting "Speakers [SB Audigy]" Which I presume is the correct output for me to be able to hear anything. I am not given the option to select this at all, the only option is "Speakers [Via High Definition Audio] - 1" or "- 2"(See Picture 1) If I select these there is not output sound at all.

What I assume I need to do is select "Speakers [SB Audigy]" So that I can hear it but the option is not there at all. (See picture 2)

Anybody got any ideas? I'd really appreciate it.

By the way, there is definitely a sound wave after recording and when I play it back there is everything there should be (Bars etc.) Just no sound. Cubase5Problem2.webpCubase5Problem.webp

Cubase works best with an ASIO sound card/interface. Does your sound card support ASIO?

If not, ASIO4all may be the answer to your problem. Once installed, go to Device Setup (Devices -> Device Setup) and choose ASIO4all as your driver. The available inputs and outputs of your system should appear in VST connections.

If they don't, open the ASIO4all control panel, click on the wrench (advanced settings) icon and make sure the relevant i/o are enabled.

Hope that helps.

Cheers :)
