Not sure the best way to explain this...
In Cubase 5.1 for Windows, I have a Yamaha S90 and a Roland Fantom XR connected to my PC via USB. Both devices are recognized as separate units by Cubase and seem to be correctly setup in MIDI setup.
In my project, I have two tracks containing MIDI data, both set to channel 1. One track is selected to output to the Fantom, the other track is selected to output to the S90.
When the track pointing to the Fantom plays back, the Fantom correctly responds and plays back the track events on channel 1. As expected, the S90 does not respond to the events being sent to the Fantom.
However, when the track pointing to the S90 plays back, the S90 correctly responds and plays back the track events on channel 1... BUT the Fantom ALSO plays back the events being channeled to the S90 on channel 1. Since Cubase isn't having any trouble identifying each unit separately, I would expect to be able to direct track output to either unit without affecting the other, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Anyone know why the Fantom might be playing back the MIDI data being sent to the S90?
