Often when I am using multiple sound loops from the Media Bay I get a very irritating crackling sound. I've tried changing latency on the interface to no avail. Any suggestions on how to alleviate this issue? Is it an issue with Cubase or my computer? I am using Cubase 5.1 on a Toshiba Satellite Laptop w/ 6 gigs of RAM and a Tascam 144 interface. Thanks in advance.

It could be a setting in your computers bios, but only if its constant when using your system.(Is your onboard audio shut off?) If its a build up type thing, (like it works ok when you lessen the load on the cpu) then most likely your cpu just isn't powerful enough to run that load no matter how high your buffer is.)

Also, check to make sure your interface has its own usb port, that nothing else is conflicting/running with it.

What CPU is in that computer ? Core Duo, Quad ?

The noise is an occasional occurrence. It disappears if I lose on or more of the loops so it sounds like it may be a cpu issue. I'm guessing the on board audio is turned off as all audio only comes through the interface audio ports when in use. The cpu is a quad core. Looks like I may have to use the desk top computer till I can upgrade the laptop. Appreciate your help.

Wow, that is the most thorough setup guide I have seen. A few things I missed myself.

Thanks PDP!

Though 'PACE License Services' needs to be active for any software that uses iLOK for software. Not just Protools. :)

Here is some suggestion!
if this problem occur due to you computer slow performance then following step will help you!!
Open Power Options by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.
Under the plan that you want to change, click Change plan settings to High performance....

This will take you little more power! but it worth.... you can always change it back after you are done working on your project!!

Dood, have you even read this thread?
