in cntrl-alt-del this is what I see
Navpw32
Stimon
Systray
Rnaapp

plus explorer and my soundcard.
As far as I know I don't have any'background' programs.
What do all the above stand for.I know system tray but not the others:D

I had to look them up, but couldn't find Navpw32. I think it has something to do with virus scans or something, though...

RNAAPP = Remote Network Access Application (part of the Dial-Up Networking)

STIMON = Still Image Devices Monitor (scanners, other usb devices)

You can find out what's loading them by either looking in the StartUp folder in your profile, or in the registry under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

That key contains all the items that are started when Windows boots.

The other way is to termiante the process, and see what crashes (if your feeling adventurous :))

- gaffa

I think Vurt's on the right track about Navpw32 - probably Norton Anti-Virus.

msconfig is a handy way of dealing with startup apps, it shows the stuff in that registry key gaffa mentioned as well as things started by win.ini, system.ini and your Startup group in the Start menu. Just go to Start-Run and type in msconfig.

I know about msconfig but I have not touched anything in syst.ini and win.ini only sartup:D
