hey people! It's been a REALLY long time since i've posted something up here so i figured I'd put up this little tune that we had to pull from our last (and only) CD that was all recorded at home. It's kind of got that mexican/flemenco feel...

We yanked it because a couple of the off key (singing) spots REALLY popped after we had it mastered. I figured I'd throw it up here for shits and giggles and see what anyone thought if they had a chance to listen. We'll probably rerecord this for our second CD.

Here's what we used to record...

Mics: Studio Projects C1 and B1...Audio Technica Pro25 (only on bass drum), and SM58 OR SM57 on snare.
Pre-Amp: M-Audio Audio Buddy
Outboard Compressor: Behringer Ultra Dyne Pro
Recorder: Roland VS-880EX
Guitars: Big Baby Taylor (main rhythm), Larrivee LV-03E (leads)
Bass: Modulous (my bass players)
Bass DI: Behrninger Bass V-Amp
Drums: Whatever that his set is...just bass, snare, high-hat, 1 tom, 1 cymbal

cheers!

i love it :) keep it as mexican love song though!
i didnt comment on your previous tracks in the mp3 forum but they all sound great. A nice production, very clear and uncluttered :)

Great song. Really nice rhythms in the guitars and drums. Yeah, get the vox in tune with a retrack. The tone and performance of the guitar solo are excellent.

My own taste: it'd sound ideal to have the pentatonic bluesy ac gtr solo at 2:15 alternate phrases with more flamenco/phrygian (if you like the Spanish style) or maybe a harmonic minor (if you like the Mexican style) phrases. Just an idea.

PUDDYTAY: Right on man! thanks for checking it out and tossing in some ideas. I'd love to do part of this puppy in spanish, but unless i'm ordering beers, i don't know a lick.

GUITARBOI89: Yeah, i think Mexican Love Song would be the better title. Thanks, and thanks for the comments on the other tunes as well!

TIMOTHY LAWLER: Thanks a lot! We'll probably try to hit a real studio for the second album, but you never know. I probably won't tweak this perticular version anymore, and just try to keep things in mind for the "pro" version...i'll pass that on to the lead guitarist. good ideas though!

Thanks guys!

Cool as...
Fix the prob & go forward.
The south of the border flavours are great. If you do some retracking try Timothy's ideas re the solo - could add that certain something.
I like the solo as is but the variations might add some Ry Cooder cool to it.
The is a moment or two when I thought of Delilah.
Oh, don't forget to... post the update.
I think the title matches the genre - leave it or put the suggestion in (brackets) beside it.
