So thanks to all my musician friends and help from this forum I've recently crossed over into the realm of digital audio workstation recording. Where as before I was recording on multitrack recorders. Because of this I own quite a bit of hardware effects like various guitar pedals and a couple of guitar processors and vocal pedals. Well recording with a guitar is no issue since I am simply amazed with the amp models given with cubase. But what about vocals? Because I'm moving more into a software oriented recording style would it be wise to shelf the vocal pedals and purchase a decent vocal vst? In the meantime I have to control my urge to resist purchasing every vst in sight. Is there a list of inexpensive or free vst that are have decent?
I mainly only use reverb, delay and compressor. Go in dry. Now, I do put some effects on to the vocals, but it more for the effect than a quality of vocals. If Cubase's included VST's handle those well, I would hold off until you have a better aim. Plus as MJ stated, you can always run out and back in. So you haven't "lost" anything, just VSTs make it easier.
Well I am not a singer, though I'm forced to sing in my current band I am no Singer by any stretch of the imagination. I hate the way I sound vocally and currently in the past have used (all with multi-track recorders) TC Helicon Mic Mechanic and Voice Live Play Both sound great but im I misunderstanding that fact that VST are a more powerful tool?
DM60 I've gone in dry and that works well for me but the VST's are limited. there is not a whole lot to work with and My Voice Live Play gives m more options. I have planned to wait on VST purchasing though. I have to walk before I can run and i am still at the crawling stages.
