I may be about to score a Fender Hotrod Deluxe, blonde tolex version, 1999 manufacture, for all of $400 CDN... some kid is selling the amp his dad bought him a few years ago because "I never use it, I just play my POD"..... it was just serviced under warranty and is in perfect working order

I get to check it out tomorrow...and will go with cash in hand.

Nice score. Isn't that like $60 US ;)

Actually with our currency right now it's probably close to even.

actually, it isn't as good as I thought it was (the price), but it is still a very good price: these sell for $850 new (CDN), plus %15 tax here in BC, and that comes to just shy of a Grand, the thing was just serviced and has barely been used since...

I got a Hot Rod deVille (4-10s) you can have for $400.
Of course shipping would probably be a bitch.

If you didn't live so damn far away, I might consider that, but by the time it got here, that would be $400 US = $520 CDN, plus shipping , say $75 cdn, plus taxes/duty at the border, that amp would be pushing $700 CDN by the time it reached my door.

This is the only problem about where I live, Vancouver Island...well, it is an island, and if I don't find things locally used, then I have to pay mucho dinero just to get off the island to look for things.

My big regret, is that to buy this Hotrod, I may have to part with a fantastic amp to pay back my wife. I hope to talk the Hotrod owner down even further, and may not have to sacrifice my Garnet amp.

Grovel, crawl to her, even offer to be nice to her mother but don't sell the other amp, you can never have too much gear.

the grovelling worked... I have convinced my wife that the Garnet amp should only be sold if we can at the very least get the same money back, but it won't be sold for a loss. I will pay her back piece by piece. But I do have one amp that is utterly expendable now (Fender Frontman 25R). WHo the hell needs a crappy SS amp when you have two awesome all-tube amps? A good SS amp has a place, but the Frontman is a piece of junk...except to beginners who don't know the difference (like I was for a good while).
