This is my first try at digital recording and mixing. I realized it most likely has many things wrong but hearing various comments can better help me understand what I should and should not be doing and what to listen for. . It was recorded and mixed using a KORG d1600.

Don't be shy - I won't take any offense -- I can take it --

I originaly post this in the wrong area, so this may appear twice. Obviously I'm a real noob !!!

This really my style of music but it's not bad. It sounds just like it stepped out of a time machine from the '50s. In some places, it seems like the vocals could come down a bit. Particularly towards the end. And the drums seem buried in the mix most of the time but that kinda fits the genre. The mix isn't bad. There are no overwhelming frequencies or nasty boomy parts. All in all, a job well done. Especially for being done on a D1600.

Pretty cool. I used to mess around with a D1600 and know you can really do a lot with them.
Really has a mid-60s Northern Soul kind of sound. If anything maybe some of the synth sounds are a little out of place?
But overall this is real nice sounding. Thanks for posting!

Pretty cool. I agree the vox could come down a bit. I thought the sax was a little hot in spots too. You got the vibe of the era down pretty good.

I think the vocals on some of the quieter spots have a tendency to being flat in spots, but the big notes are all good and I'd be riding the faders on the lead vocal to even it out a bit.

I liked the song a lot.

The lead vocal level is inconsistent. It gets lost in spots and jumps out in other. I heard a few pitch issues. In the harmony vocals too. Vocal is a little "midrangy" - some ear darts here and there.

I'm not a big reverb guy, but the verb here seems to suit the song well.

Drums are sort of buried.

I liked the bass. Nice part. nice tone. Nice level.

I think hearing something like this that's obviously going for a period sound makes me more forgiving about things like reverb and inconsistent levels..
I almost expect to hear the drums hard panned to one side and everything else to the other!

Pretty catchy tune, which reminded me of the 50's. I really liked the tone of the voice, although out of pitch at times, and the voice seemed buried under the instrumentation, instead of the other way around, which to me would have made the song sound better. All in all, I think this a VERY respectable first attempt, with possible potential of sounding much better in the next song or two. Just my 2 cents worth.

its a very good mix and song overall. some of the instruments sound a bit unnatural at the start but I doubt there is much you can do to change that.

haha...fun stuff sounds cool agree with everyone else on crits........Grat job man.........
