Whatup Fellas!!

Man, it's been a long time since I've been in the BBS! I had to get a real job and that doesn't leave time for much else. Although I am still piecing together my home studio, I just don't get as much time to play.

I recently had someone ask me for an old school style beat for a song they wrote and I want you guys to critique what I came up with before I give it to him.

In my defense, I will tell you that I sold my monitors and this mix was done with headphones

Yeah, Yeah I know

It's mostly samples from various CDs and some of my talent on my Roland XP-50, but the arrangement and mix are all mine.

Let Me Know......Thanks

sounds good just somethings a tiny bit off i dunno wat it is... i think maybe a touch too much reeverb lessening the reeverb time would tighten it up a lil bit i think. I also think the beeping sound needs to be more present.
but overall good oldschool sound

it's good, i like, especially when you add another beat over the rest. the little beep sounds like the one in Ice Cube's You can do it.

Yeah, I noticed it too, I didn't really use that much reverb, I think it has more to do with the coloring of the sound from the headphones. I can't really hear what the mix sounds like on the low end, so it makes it hard to add the background sounds without them sounding too loud.

Reason #37 that you never mix with headphones ;)

good beat you might want to brighten some of the other sounds in the mix make it a little more clear, The drums completly dominate. I think if you braught some of the other sounds up in the mix it would knock harder and give it a clearer feel. good job tho
