Ed Sheeran - Small Bump ^^

Any criticism is welcome! Thank you guys

only the third and fourth links are active...

I like your voice, but there's something not quite precise in your pitch when you go for the high "sta-a-ars" that bugged me throughout the whole recording...

for the fourth, you need to articulate better the words. I could barely understand the first verse. consonants at the end of words do make a difference...

btw, I just noticed how much air you got there - it's sexy, I concede, and it's a good effect to use here and there. but I'd like to hear your full voice for a change...

Thank you for the feedback! Much appreciated. I will definitely work on my articulation, because I have noticed I get sloppy with my pronunciation. Of course the two videos that were my favorite didn't work, but here they are

I think you have a really good voice sir, I could definitely listen to you sing all day.

You have a lot of constriction in your sound, starting every phrase with what's called a glottal stroke. This is mainly the result of both registers (lower register or "chest" and falsetto) being underdeveloped. They normally work antagonistically against one another, and when they're both equally strong and coordinated, you can get not only a change in dynamics, but in tone as well, making your voice much more versatile. Right now they are in a holding pattern, equally weak in a term coined by Douglas Stanley "mixed falsetto". It's correctible if you get lessons with someone who teaches registration and proper breathing, and I highly recommend that you do find lessons from a good teacher. You have a very nice voice, but we can only hear a small portion of it when it's undeveloped like this.

Please keep singing, and keep seeking better techniques. Listen to your body in how something feels, but understand that sometimes your body gets used to tension and ignores it after a while. A good example of singing without this constriction would be George Michael:

George Michael - Freedom! '90 - YouTube

He can, on purpose, make a tender sound (albeit a bit breathy for my tastes) by using more falsetto, but listen to the clarity he gets when he wants more power.

Hey thanks for the well-thought out response, much appreciated! I've always wanted to get singing lessons, because I honestly have so much to learn and still don't know proper breathing techniques. I will definitely look more into those terms, and actually I am getting voice lessons within the next month so I will keep these tips in mind for sure. Thank you :)

the voice is good. not saying there aren't problems but it's a great start.

I'm a huge ed sheeran fan, so I was expecting to hate Small Bump but you did well. I look forward to hearing more

Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite artist. Thanks for the reply :thumbs up:
