I'm looking for some advice, suggestions on optimizing my setup. I'm fairly
happy with the tone and quality considering the poor selections of mics at
my disposal, however I'm sure some of the more experienced sound guys
will have something to say!

This wav file was recorded using Wavelab Lite through a Creative Labs
Audigy sound card (RCA inputs). It has been converted to mono to reduce
file size and the only effect is a bit of gated reverb on the snare drum.

Please right click and save to your local drive for listening:

This wave file is pre-mixed using five channels so you'll hear an imbalance
of drums; especially the snare volume vs. floor tom.

These photos show my settings for each drum.

Channel 1 = Kick > Senhheiser MD 409U3 > Gate > (mild limiter) > Mixing Board > EQ > Soundcard

Channel 2 = Snare > Shure > Compression/Gate > Mixing Board > EQ > Effect > Soundcard

Channel 3 = Hi Tom > Shure > Gate > Mixing Board > EQ > Sound Card

Channel 4 = Floor Tom > Image > Gate > Mixing Borad > EQ > Sound Card

Channel 5 = Hi-hat OH > AKG C535 EB > Mixing Board > EQ > Sound Card

Snare settings: Threshold - 60 dB; Ratio 10:1; Attack 5.5 msecs; Release 40 dB/sec.

I just picked up the UX8 and learning how to address and map the inputs. I hope
to have independent control over each channel soon!

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
