Critique my mix please!

So this is the first mix in my most recent recording project, which is recording a handful of songs I've written over the years. After listening for months and months to this I could use some other ears on it, so check it out and I'm interested to hear your feedback, thanks!

Nice playing, singing, and composition. The mix sounds midrangy and over-compressed. It gives it a harsh quality that is at odds with the attractive and upbeat composition. This song should be a lot more fun to listen to. Have you thought about backing off the limiting and volume boosting to go for a more dynamic sound? Let the soft parts be softer, and the louder parts build naturally. The individual levels actually sound pretty good. I think the troubles are on your mix bus.

It is a very nice song. You could lose about two minutes in length.
