Critique my drum kit recording II

My other thread went of topic somewhat, so here's the new kit recording.

I attempted to tune to toms with the help of DuoToneBand (Thanks again man.)

The cymbals are still bothering me. Sometimes I think their a little to loud, so I bring down the volume on the overheads, but that kills my toms, being that I only have 4 mics. Any suggestions?

it sounds alot better than the other one i can tell you that right now.

i guess sm57's aren't meant for overheads :eek:

i love the snare though......jeez im about to cream my pants
 
Sounds pretty good to me.

If you want the toms louder try moving the overheads back back towards the drum stool and angling them towards the toms.

Sorry about the other thread. (and that's the last I'll say about it :rolleyes: )

I think you've made a big improvement in the sound and tuning. I LOVE the snare! Sounds awesome! The toms are tuned well, but a bit too high in pitch for my tastes. I keep waiting to hear the other low toms come in.

Are you treating the whole track with reverb, or individual instruments? If you can reduce the amount on the kick it will sound bigger.

Try the overheads back as Newbie-Doo says. That's good advice!

Sound really good for only 4 mics. Did you say in the other thread that you used the 2 Sm57's on overhead, 1 SM57 on snare, and the D112 on the your kick? I think I'll go ahead and do that same set up because your recording sounded pretty darn good. Great Job. :D

The high end of the overheads/cymbals is a little fatiguing.
And in a rock mix im not sure that snare would hold up.

Is the high end coming form the room or did you add eq/bright reverb?

I'm working on getting the rest of my mics right now and then I could probably give you a run for your money
but at the moment I'm flat broke

Hello nice tight sound on the snare and kick. Plus the toms sound like you tuned them pretty good with no ring. As for the cymbals and the high hats, they seem a little midrange sounding around 1-2.5k. Just a suggestion maybe you should dump out some of that and add a little highs to the overheads for brightness. Plus what mics are you using for the overheads?
 
what kind of mics are you using? that sounded really good, and soon i'll be in the market for some drum mics

For what it's worth,

I would LOVE to achieve that drum sound in my home studio.

I am envious.

Hey ... just curious. What kind of snare is that? The snare sounds really good.
