Whenever I play this women start throwing bras and panties at me. J/K Ive never had "female" underwear thrown at me

The song was tracked with 2 sm 81 about 18 inches apart over a large wooden floor.

Please give quick listen and review.
Thanks a lot folks.

the song is called Lost in your eyes

Hi,

I listened to your song.

I admire singers who can sing low and sound good, and that's the case here. It reminds me of a Johnny Cash who can hit a few higher registers. The style is like a combination of Johnny Cash and Bruce Springsteen. I like it.

I also like the double-tracked vocal, although the tracks are slightly out of sync at times (I'm really nit-picking there). I'd be interested in hearing that second vocal during the chorus veer off into a harmony.

Parts of the acoustic melody sound very much like the song "Drive" by REM.

The production is great (for what it is). Do you rent out your large wooden floor?

I...er...have no panties to throw...how about some beef jerky?

Great marketing!

I just HAD to open this thread with that title!
Super clean playing and recording. Nicely doubled vocal - nice voice, too. The rhythm drives wonderfully for a solo guitar - no click track, right? If you want a nit-pick - and that's all that anyone can do with this tune - the inhalation at the beginning and at 1:49 could easily be gated out. Very cool tune - nice writing, playing and recording. I believe I'll be hanging on to this one!! Thanks!!

Nice

Clean sound, good vocals. The doubling has some timing issues, but nothing bad. For me it was a little dry, but a good song.

Overall it is very nice.

Good song... classic, slow, introspective ballad. Seems more like a moon-staring than panty-throwing song to me ;)

Comments have been made about the double-tracked vocals... my question is this: did you duplicate and offset a single recorded track, or did you sing/record the same vocal part twice? It sounds like the former to me. The latter is usually the more effective way to do it, as it allows you to keep the timing while introducing a truer "second" voice. Very few people can sing the same part EXACTLY the same twice in a row, so the variation in the two recordings should take care of itself.

Keep up the good work.

Nice vocals and use of doubling. Worked well for the song. Guitar part was nice too. Good feel. Click track? :)

Nice work tj. It was a good listen.

Tim,
I checked out all three of your songs, and they are all fantastic. You have a great voice! Very nice playing and recording ! Thanks for sharing them!
Just curious, what kind of guitar do you record with?
Thanks, Jason

Nice "woody" sound to this. Great performance. Nice clean recording. I'm not crazy about the double-tracking - I'd much prefer harmonies. But when the song's this good, who cares?

Nice stuff.

Man this shit is really starting to get to me okay......

What are you tracking on and what pres are you using and are you playing these songs live......guitar and vocals at the same time?

Just 2 mics? That seems way to clear to me that you can get the tone out of both vocals and guitar without one suffering. And in the process you are making me suffer. I sold my TAYLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

Jeeze......I can't even listen to my guitar tracks after I listen to yours. :D

tmoberly-- thanks for the listen; beef jerky is good but I prefer the taste of panties

Mc Guitarz-- I always use a click track, if I didn’t the song would slow down into retardedness

sloop-- thanks, with artificial reverb I do more damage than good.
I just cant do it.

Homerec-- the second vocal was another take. Non music people are not bothered by it. They just think that its amazing that you can have two of the same person singing at the same time.

skids-- Im using one of those old fashioned manual spring metronomes recorded on another track

Jasonbird--Taylor 414 thanks

Groucho-- thanks your right harmonies would be better

outlaws-- Im using the 81's for guitar and overdubbing the vocal with the ntk. From there it goes to the RNP and then to the ADAT XT 20. The room may be helping out the sound. I took everything out of the room and laid plywood all over the carpet. I noticed a huge difference between that and carpet! The ceiling is also high an slanted

Its been a few year, but now that I am better at recording, I think I am going to have to take a trip to my parents place and use their shed. :)

Its about 18' x 10' and about 9' tall with a slanted ceiling.

No more of this Kitchen and bathroom room crap.............

Listening in shitty Philips headphones

woah.. intro is like '18 and life', hehe

In my headphones it sounds good, but very dry... Not much more to say..

wow tim!
you got a killer acoustic sound on this recording IMHO.
I like the song and dig the double vocals too. I wish I could get an acoustic sound on a recording that good.
I enjoyed the song.

Eggcellent guitar tone man. Nice clear vocals as well. Sorry for the lame reply...

LIstening rite now--- yep there you go --- Panties comming your way---

very nice vocals and I love the guitar! great song- I dont do much country but that was good

Wow, I feel honered that betty rumble listened to one of my songs! Thank you

maybe a high pass on that vocal mic to get rid of all that rumble. (you can really hear when that track comes in too...and even a little "squiggle" of it in the VERY beginning where the track comes on and off...no vocals present though.) The doubled vocals were unecessary, imo. They actually lower the presentation of the song, me thinks....mainly because they are off so much and don't blend well....or at least have the 2nd unision vocal be about 50% in volume...just enough to fill and not be *noticeable*. but....I'd rather see you throw in a harmony occasionally instead, as that will be much more effective. The acoustic has a nice sound, but sounds like it is on the edge of being a tad boomy also.

very nice tune and singing voice. that's the hard part.
