The Crest Factor is the difference between the average level and the peak. What is a good crest factor to attempt to achieve for a whole mix? let's say that the peak level is -0.3db, what should be the average level for a typical pop (ie... r&b, pop, hip-hop) recording?
Also, what's a good crest level for:
Bass?
Kick?
Snare?
I ask these 3 specifically because they are the backbone of the tune and also seem to be the most peaky parts of the tunes that i make. because i play guitar as my first instrument i have good control over it's levels while recording so I'm not as concerned with it.

crest factor Physics. the ratio of the peak amplitude to the average amplitude of any periodically varying function.
