This is the song Creep Steve (with fixed broken link). It is about a guy I didn't like.

Style wise I was feeling hints of Dylan, Robyn Hitchcock, Pink Floyd and a blues band in a bar where everyone is drunk kinda thing, at least that's the idea I had going in. You know what happens to intentions.

Looking for feedback on the mix and such. Right now there are two big things I am unhappy with - the huge, out of place, processed robot snare and the vocals that
are smeared/lack definition and are too low. As I posted on other samples - I'm well aware of the limitations of my voice and trying to get a better vocal take would not accomplish anything :-)

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. All the songs I've been posting and will post are intended for an 'EP' that I will zip up, post on the net and distribute to my friends on my birthday as a sort of reverse present.

Definitely see the Dylanesque and Floyd hints. Like the guitar thing that happens at 1:39. Lots of nice guitar things going off. Vocals could come up a touch as you said. Not sure what you meant by smeared? I prefer real drums, even badly recorded real drums to processed drums, but the drums here sound pretty good, they didn't distract or sound too roboty to me.

Thanks for checking it out. Re - smeared - I added a light chorus to try and cover up some of the pitch problems, and ended up not liking it at all. I also over cut eq in a critical area.

I also hear you on the edrums - they are the bane of my existence. I would love a kit - but I am SOO not a drummer, and I have no space or environment for recording real drums. I find with my little simmons kit and vstis that I can bash out a sloppy part that doesn't sound too programmed - and clean up some of the obvious mistakes - BUT the thing that is killing me about this track now is the specifically the snare with EXACTLY the same volume and sample every hit.

Thanks again!
