...a young friend of mine has purchased a forthcoming audigy 24 (usins cakewalk)and has inquired to me about exactly what he's bought...wish he had gotten to me sooner--before he made the purchase...
question--I've searched here and there but the details are lacking--i.e. 2 IN, 4 OUT, 96k output? but only 48k recording? (no choice for 44.1k?)--are these specs correct?...is the damn thing even full-duplex?...it appears as though this card is nothing more than it's predecessor of 5 or so yrs ago with the added creativelabs version of 1394 bus?...am I correct?...poor kid...anyone?...it looks like I'll advise him to canc the order for something a bit nicer...thanks for any input.

hmmm...guess I'm in the wrong forum...anyone here ever even heard of the creative labs audigy 24?

Jeeesh, well excuse us all for not leaping in to answer you...

Actually you really should be in the Computer recording and Soundcards forum, as your question has nothing to do with Cakewalk.

The sampling rate of the ADC is fixed at 48kHz, I believe. That doesn't mean you can't record at 44.1 kHz.

Yes of course it's full duplex.

It is not simply the Live with Firewire, it's an evolved Live with Firewire.

Despite the prevailing snobbishness here against the Audigy, it's not that horrible of a card, especially if you are starting out and haven't the money to go out and buy external synths and such.

...aaah, weekend thread :D You should wait until working day to get replies :D

Wel, I don't know much in detail about Audigy, but I knew few Creative cards... <--shame on me... :o

Here's the "official" comparison chart... :)
