Creating a Tremolo-type effect

Hi guys, I need help creating a tremolo type effect.I have a wind and water sound, and I want it to start at every few measures.I only own one mic, so I'll have to do it in a software program.What I want to happen is so that like of the 5 second sample of the wind and water, it pans back and forth 50% left and right 25 times during those 5 seconds.I was wondering how I could do this,other than manually doing it myself.

Use a plug in called stereo pan or auto pan. You can set up the delay, the shape of the pan (ie sine, triangle, square) and the feedback (how long the delay will last before it disappears, at 100% you create a constant noise after a set amount of time)
