With Cubase 4, and their new incredible mixer I am opting to go with out an actual control surface. I am going to get the mackie 1200f, which has 12 of their beautiful pre's. I then need a separate converter just for all the different studio, headphone and cue sends. Since the secondary converter is pretty much for headphone, iso booth, and effect sends, the quality is not as important as your input ad. I am thinking about the creamware a 16 ultra. Any other suggestions for similar products that are around a similar price range (500 -1000). Also can anyone talk me out of the mackie buy suggesting the firepod?

Thanks

Do you really need a seperate convertor?

I don't know anything about the 1200f, but the firepod has 8 analog outs in addition to the CR and headphone outs, which you can use for additional headphone mixes, reamping etc

i'ld stay away from creamware... they just went tit's up as i understand it... so may have driver issues in the future...

Hey

Apparently Creamware got into solvency problems again. It seems that two independant companies, inDSP and Sonic Core have teamed up and have just completed the acquisition of the rights to CreamWare’s technology. One of the companies will also continue to produce and support the SCOPE DSP board family under the CreamWare brand name.

Creamware do make excellent products, but that's the 2nd time I am aware of them having solvency issues in the last 6 years, which is not so good.

Hopefully these companies can provide a more stable environment and build customer confidence that the products will remain supported etc.

Cheers

John
