Taming the World--for now
OK Here is the link to show how the song turned out. It was COMPLETELY rewritten several times. Give a listen and thanks for all the suggestions. BTW - ido1957,I did take your suggestion and kept the first verse and went the happy route. (Maybe even the sappy route.) Folkie - Yeah I recycled the ending. Click Here for Song Thanks again, Dave.

Newbee needs help

I have written some songs and I now have a guy with a saxophone to hopefully put the sizzle in the songs but he wants me to send him my songs on CD. I HAVE NO IDEA how to do that.

I have a mike, a computer and a rewrite program what do I need?

I liked your Crazy song... how did you get it on the web?

Just added a new dedicated page to my website. The file I converted to MP3. DAve

Cool man - this is a great rewite from the original lyrics. Love the chorus - really melodic! You turned this into a great blues/love song. Playing is good too - liked the leads in the middle and chord progression. Good One.....

I'll be recording it the end of next week (Barring more rewrite!) and then I'll use the at4050 for the vocals and track everything else as usual for me. Dave.

Dave - let us know once you get the recording done next week (bump this/new thread?) - I'm interested in the results and the AT4050 sound....

Pulled out the at4050s today. Fried a mic pre but we're still OK. Tomorrow is out of town Hope to have something up for Saturday night.

Crazee is rerecorded and up for a listen.

Here is the link for Crazee (c2006). I wrote some recording notes with this one also. Enjoy and feel free to pick it apart. It's real close to what I'm going to keep. I may touck the wave file up in Cubase but I think the analog end is pretty much done unless I wake up hating it. Dave

Hey - was looking forward to this and was definitely not disappointed!
This last mix is great...some of the things that really stand out....

The drums are fat and have a great bottom end to them. Snare just right in the mix. The compression seems to have really levelled/fattened up the drums. Some room verb there pushes them just to the back of the mix - perfect. Sounds lightly left panned but that may be imaging?

The guitar has just the right combination of strings and strumming/pick sound. It sits nicely where I can hear it throughout without straining and never too loud. Wonderful last strum! That Takamine's got a nice sound.

Bass - nice backup, thick notes carrying this along ever so nicely. Defined with a big bottom end - tough to do with bass (my weak point).

Lead guitar - throughout gives it some variety and melodic accompanying flavour. Well chosen clean patch - fits well with an acoustic guitar. Lead is mellow and jazzy...

Vocals - my favorite part of all... The AT-4050 has really brought out the vocals well. Just makes the melody lines shine even more - especially in the chorus which is IMHO very original and has a superb hook.

This is a great quality track - song-wise, recording and performance, I think it really turned out well.....Great track!

One technical note re the web page - when I opened the page, three songs began to play at the same time. There were three volume controls so I just shut down the bottom two and that allowed "Crazy" to play by itself. You may want to look at that....
