I'm probably going to get it so I want to make sure its good..

thanks

Crate makes pretty good low-cost amps. You pay for what you get and so that amp is not going to sound amazing, but then again, it's not that expensive either. I personally have never heard that particular model, but I have heard numerous smaller Crate amps which sounded surprisingly decent considering how little they costed. Ultimately, the best way to find out whether or not you should buy the amp is to go to a store, plug in your guitar, and try it out.

I have an older Crate G250

It's basically the same thing.
150 watts
2 12"
2 channel

I've used it at home and always for band practice.
For the past 2-3 years, I've used it playing shows in small bars/clubs.

It has planty of power for on stage, either through a PA or not. I've heard it miked through a few different PA's and it blends in with the band well. I even get a decent recorded sound out of it.

The distorted channel, to me, sounds good. I can get a wide range of sounds. It doesn't soundlike a tube amp, but hey, it's not. I use either a Strat with a Seymore Duncan hunbucker in the the bridge position, or a Charvel with a Jackson pickup in the Bridge posotion.

The clean channel is, well, just clean. Nothing fancy. It can be painfully bright or nice and mellow. My strat single coil neck pickup sounds great through the clean channel. The Charvel humbuckers sound good but require a bit more tweaking.

Currently, I'm running a Digitech RP2000 through the amps clean channel. The band plays covers. New rock, 92.3 KROCK radio type stuff for those of you in the NJNY area. For that style of music, it works well for me. Overall, I've been happy with it. I'd say to go check it out.

The nice thing about 150 watts is that unless you're playing a very large club, a lot of the time you wouldn't even need a PA. I have a 40 watt tube amp -- which I love, don't get me wrong -- but it's annoying to have to deal with the PA sometimes.

Tom, I don't think the 30 watt difference will be noticable.

echoes, the amp has taken care of some small bars without the PA.
However, we now rent a sound guy who brings a PA, mikes everything, and mixes us all night. It's easy and sounds great.
