crappy soundcards

firewire non-powered mixer

i'm new to this, so maybe someone can steer me in the right direction?

i'm thinking on getting a dual-core amd 64 (no, i can't get a custom-built right now)

i'm also looking at a phonic firewire mixer (non-powered)

now, my question is..

if i get this mixer/interface and use firewire, then i won't have to worry about the crappy stock soundcard, right? i will be bypassing that, right?

Not familiar with that mixer but if it's firewire, then the A/D convertor must be in the mixer so yes you can bypass the crappy stock sound card
