Hi all -

Just dragged the 424iii out of a 3 year sabbatical and fired 'er up. Not good unfortunately. The master fader is crackling and cutting out when moved up and down. Dry joint or dust? Hoping for the latter, obviously - but what should I do? Is there any recommended contact cleaner? Compressed air (which I don't have either)? Any ideas welcomed. Cheers.

DeOxIt - From Caig (now distributed by Hosa, so it's available anywhere).

I second the DeoxIt products. http://store.caig.com

They have one called FaderLube. It cleans and lubes all in one. It has a deoxidizing agent which destroys corrosion. About two or three squirts into the fader track and then work the fader up and down several times.

Also use regular DeoxIt for all the pots on the mixer. It's good for jacks in patchbays too. It's good stuff and finally getting more popular.

Problem solved!! Used the spray stuff mentioned above. It's hugely expensive, I thought - but I have to admit it seems pretty magical. Thanks again.
