I have an m-audio delta 66 with omni studio. I also have windows xp, and the most updated driver. When I use Cakewalk 9 (I haven't tried any other programs) I get crackling, and when i try to record separate tracks fro guitar and vocals, I noticed that it drops some chunks of sound making it completely of beat from the rest of the song. Has anyone else had this problem or kno wof a way to fix it, right now i have to try and record all the instruments together incuding vocals, and the crackling is extremelty annoying. Any help is appreciated, thanks. -Dave

Oh, and i forgot to say, the 3rd and 4th imputs dont work, they pick up the smallest amount of sound imaginable, is there a way to fix the gain on those?

Might want to check your latency settings within your software program and on your cards settings. If the latency is set too low you will get these crackles during recording.
This is my first guess....

should it be on faster or safer (faster is makes the msec smaller, safe makes them higher) and what about in the accual sound card settings, should I change the latency there too?

If you are using PCI videocard, consider reducing color depth. If cracking dissapeares or at least changes for the better - dump your videocard.
Best you can do is switch to AGP.

Go to the delta control panel and set your latency to 20. this is what I set mine to. I dont know where to find these settings in Cakewalk, maybe under audio preferences or drivers, and see what options you have for latency settings. Make sure its not on lowest setting.
Also, Webstop is also correct. Set your video to no greater than 16bit.
Might want to see if your delta card is on its own IRQ.
