I am getting really tired of this...when mixing down from ADAT to analog mixer to USB converter to laptop, I get these random crackles in my mixdown file. I only get them every so often - sometimes a lot and sometimes none. And always one split second of crackle, barely audible, in one random place in the song.

It's forced me to do two mixdowns of every track (at least) just to make sure that if one track is corrupted I might be lucky on the second and it'll be clean.

I always listen to the tracks after mixdown with phones just to hear if there's any crackles.

I'm sure there's other people having this issue and I would like to know if anyone know why and any way to remedy it. It's not so bad with one song but when you're mixing down several at a time then have to go back after several hours and mix down again it's just a pain in the butt.

I've never had this when I recorded from 4-track to line in on my other computer. Now I have a laptop with no line in - just USB in. It's a DELL Latitude D610 and the converter is ADS Tech Instant Music RDX-150.

Help Me Someone!

That's funny because I'm having this exact crackling problem recording through analog mixer to line in 8(. I think my slower computer demanding to record through sonar/cubase is causing it though
