I covered finished one of the walls in my studio/jam room this weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions on covering them. I bought some marterial from wal-mart. But I can seem to get it to stay attched to the fiberglass. Or I can but it looks really, really bad.

Wait, how did you attach the fiberglass to the walls? You should at least wrap it with fabric before you put it up. Staples won't hold very well in the fiberglass.

I'm making some gobos right now. I picked up a 12x15 piece of canvas for about $25 at home depot. Looks good and works good (so far)!

Did you put wooden frames around the fiberglass? That's what most people do I think. I did that, and then you can just get a staple gun and staple the fabric to the frames. You can even only staple to the back, so it looks really nice on the front and sides.

I used about four different methods to wrap my bass traps and panels. Click on my signature below and then use the navigation buttons on the left of the page that opens to see pics and descriptions of how I did it.

Usually its easier to wrap them before there up. Since they are up now, what does it look like. Is it a solid wall? or here and there? Can you snap a quick pic?

I use those thin plastic painter drop cloths (1-2 mil) to wrap my panels, then cover them in some cheap burlap.

I'm also looking for something to wrap my rigid fiberglass with but I'm using them as ceiling tiles and I'm a little concerned about the fire rating when the tiles meet the lighting fixtures. Sure the rigid is retardant but what about the canvas?

yeah they are already up and I covered one wall? I think I might have figured something out last night. I think I am going with one large piece of fabric mounted to the ceiling and the wood frame. I will try to post pics soon. Thanks for all the information, this site has really helped.

Well guys here are some photos I took up my wrapped panels. I just bought 200 yards of fabric for 200 bucks, for me thats a deal. When buying fabric you should easily stretch it and be able to breathe through it with ease.

what I used to mount the ceil panels is the 90 degree angle brackets, so I just screwed one side into the frame and the other to the ceiling...works great.

For the wall, some "J" hooks and dark colored wire to hang them there.

Hope this helps.

I thought it was advisable to wrap 703/705 and Roxul with a material that is breathable.

Is this true? I just picked up some Roxul and the gentleman told me to just wrap it in plastic too tho. Thoughts?

*bump*

come on guys, yea or nay? (with regards to covering insulation with plastic)

Thanks in advance.

I would just cover with burlap...nice and breathable. That's what I did and it worked well. From what I understand, covering with plastic may reflect some of the high frequencys but still absorb the lows.

I guess the only advantage to covering with plastic would be that the fibers won't get out and go flying around the room. But I don't notice that problem with my current traps anyway.

Hope this helps!
