I down loaded the drum track of of You Tube.....

So I finished it off, except for the solo, which I can't pull off decently.

There's no automation, and very few edits or punch ins.

So if someone wants a crack at it, by all means.

The drums are lacking in power. The snare especially lacks resonance. It sounds like the stick is hitting a practice pad. For this kind of music, you want to get tighter.

I don't know about power, but they aren't as punchy as I think they should be for this type of music.

Yea, those drums aren't doing this mix any favors. They are not bad considering where you go them.

My drum source.

I played it on my iPad, and had a stereo line going in to my interface to record it into my DAW.

Man this brings back memories! Our band used to play this all the time when I was in high school. Good choice of a cover. At the guitar part starting at 0:30, the first part of that riff are slide chords and each chord is not strummed. In other words 1 ---> 2 3 ----> 4.

Are you doubling the intro guitars? They sound a little off tunage wise. or maybe you have a weird effect on them?

Regardless good job..there are a lot of parts on this song.

Thanks,

I've always played the slide chords as singles, my little take, sounds better to me.

One of my guitars is out of intonation. (Les Paul Deluxe) They are doubled.(Charvel w/EMG's) The main rhythm is DI'd using Peavy Revolver Amp Sim, the Craig Anderton Rhythm Metal setting. The Doubled rhythm is the eleven rack metal spread setting. The "lead" parts are the the 1 the peavy revolver, and the SS Blacktone setting on the eleven rack. the bass is DI'd through the eleven rack using a traditional bass setting with a tad of distortion.

The vox is me, SM7b -- Cloudlifter -- Tascam US-1800. And a send to a distortion buss and blended to taste. Sounds a bit like Rob Zombie to me.

Everything is sent through the same reverb buss and a parallel compression buss. And there's a "Master Buss" plug in on the master buss, to make it louder.

The only punch ins are at the beginning of the solo section and end of the solo section.

I didn't play with the settings on the reverb or compression, just the amount of send on each channel. Both are on setting for an aux buss. No EQing.

Love the energy. Balance on things is pretty good (except the drum could use some more power). The chug guitars sound pretty good. The riff is a bit scratchy - but just a bit.

The drums, particularly the snare and kick, are really slappy.

The vocal would sound better double tracked. I don't know about the original, but to me this one begs for it.
