I'm starting to strongly consider investing in a decent digital rig. I love the idea of analog, but I'm realizing that I have neither the time nor the money/space to invest in it right now. I'm really drawn to the FW1884. I want to be hands on. I can get them used between $4-500. A few questions....
Are the channel insert points useable from the DAW? (Could I run an already recorded track through an external compressor?)
How are the pres? Would something like a DMP3 be a step up? (Or a step down/sideways)
I know they've made Windows 7 drivers for it, has anyone used it with 7? How stable is it?
Also, anyone have any experience using this unit with Reaper?
