Does anyone have a manual (with specs) for a countryman DI? Yeah I know its pretty much plug and play. I have had it for years and use it all the time I am jsut curious as to its innards and overall specs. THanks

Thanks, did that and got general spec, I gues I should have asked for a schematic. Sorry for the vague request. Short of a schematic I welcome any comments from users as to pro's and cons for various applications. eg. works well for ******** or when used to ****** etc. ya get the idea. Shortcomings, pluses that sort of thing. I do know they are solid as a rock, damn near indestructable. Also, in terms of performance, how do they stack up against other di boxes. I love mine as I said and have had nary a problem for almost 20 yrs. Good in my book. Comments welcome.

Well, your 20 yrs experience is more than mine, but for what it's worth, everything I've run through them was great - basses and keyboards. It's active, so I can throw anything at it. My P bass sounds awesome through it alone. It also works on my piezo-like upright pickup.

I've also used it for bass combined with a Sennheiser 421 on my Ampeg B-12N with the mic catching the lows and the DI the highs (not the typical other way around) and it sounded awesome. I'm seriously considering selling my Sansamp and getting a Countryman because I never turn the Sansamp on - I hate the sound of it.

On gearslutz.com I've seen a schematic for a Countryman DI.

thanks whale bone. Glad you like yours, I love mine. I ead a tlot ofposts here about different di's just fishin for info. THanks for hte reference to gearslutz, I have'nt been over there in a while. I have done something similar recording bass, that technique works well, just play with your eq abit and if you can record a pure non eq. di track of the bass as well. Good fall back if later you discover that your high/low pass eq turns out to be a poor fit in the mix. My.o2.
