The Pie Guy
Just bought a Rode NT1.....closeout special at GC....

$189.00....came with a shockmount and case...

Gonna use it at home for acoustic guitar....

I bought a set of KRK V4 powered monitors too so the salesman threw in a Pop Filter for the mic.....

Did I get a deal or not??

I bought the NT1 at GC with shockmount, popfilter and case for $199 at off sales time. You didn't rob the guy blind but you didn't get ripped off either. I was actually thinking the Oktava 319 was a good buy this weekend. $99!!! I had to get a headphone amp instead though. Bit higher on the priority chain.

the NT1 isnt a terrible mic, but at that prive you could get a Marshall MXLv67B and a mxl 603 and a Behringer ECM8000.....3 mics that with give you many, many options.......

its not too late to take it back.......

Gidge, I didn't recognize you with the new avatar...

Hell, I didn't even read your post....

I'm going to have to agree with Gidge on this one.

The QC on the NT1 varies a great deal, but I'm afraid that most of the NT1's I've heard over the last few years just sound plain nasty. :D

The Marshall mxl 603 ($70), on the other hand, is a thing of beauty on the accoustic guitar and mandolin.

. . . Yea, mandolin is my newfound application that the mxl 603 was made for. The way this particular mic sounds -- and the character it imparts is just unbelievably perfect for that instument. There may never be a more perfect mandolin mic, I kid you not. :D

Is Gidge saying anything... I was......reading....the other....post...avatar.....what was I saying?

Am I a gear slut?

My freind has a NT1 and loves it. The GC here was s'posed to have one for $99 but it had "disappeared"

I just lost control too. I stopped at MARS to see if they still had the GT52 in the case. They did, I took it for a test drive, and it's in my locker now. I'll regret it in the morning, maybe...

Thanks for the input guys.....

I better learn a little bit more about mics....

Thanks again,
Joe

P.S......

Yup...Brad's Mom is looking sweet in Gidge's avatar :D

Yeah, I'm also in Chicago - are you saying that the GC on Halsted has (or had) 319's for $99? I don't really NEED one, but, hey, I'd check it out for $100. "Too many mics?" What? Huh? I don't know what these words mean.

My latest MF catalog has the 219 for $99, NOT the 319 which is $199.

Hey Flatpicker

That was an in store Fri Sat Sun special. They had the MC012's on sale for 99 too.

About a month and a half ago, I picked up two 319's for $99 at GC...it was actually a quote by another employee from another department that quoted me that price so I made him write it down and sign it...when I came back to buy them at that price, the manager of that department just about had an accident in his pants and had to explaine to the store manager that it was a signed quote that he had to honor...needless to say, they weren't that happy about it...I was...:)

God Bless!

forgot to mention that was with pop filters and shock mounts thrown in....kind of makes you glad that no-one knows anything in those stores sometimes...

God Bless!

Two 319's with shockmounts and pop filters for $99?

I don't know whether to believe your prayers were answered - or you stole merchandise!:D
