Ok, so I've been trying to figure out why my new firebox stutters while playing back audio. I thought it was the firewire chipset, but a different chipset still causes issues. So, I'm willing to take a look at it either being ram or the hard drive. I dl'd a disk speed checker, and here's my results. Is this HD too slow for sending audio through firewire for playback? (recording is fine, but that could be because of the latency setup).

The other issue could be ram. I have 512mb, with around 270mb free. Basically, I have a budget of around $100 at the moment since I just spent everything of my new studio equipment. So, I can either get 1gb of ram, or a new HD. Which would you guys think is most likely the culprit? Or, does the firebox just hate my laptop and I'm screwed?
I just don't see why it would be the computers specs, because I'm able to play back audio just fine through my internal sound card. Does the firebox need more resources for some reason? (again, I'm not talking about recording, just playback through progs like foobar, and media player. MP3's and CD's, as well as when trying to overdub in cubase)
Thanks for any feedback.
EDIT: I realized its very unlikely to be the hard drive, because the audio stutters even when playing off a CD. The hard drive shouldn't even be part of the equation in that scenario, right?
