Cosmetic differences from a beta58 to a beta58A

Recently picked up an older beta58. Cosmetically compared to my newer 58A, it has a few differences that I'm wondering about. For one, the label "Shure Beta 58" is written at a slant rather than straight across the handle. It does not have gold pins and the word "Shure" is not to be found at the base of the pins. I'm wondering if this could be fake or if the older non-A models looked like this? Any input?

Sounds very much like a fake. Why don't you give us a sound sample so that we will have a better idea? :D
 
Well ... it could be a fake.
How does it respond when you submerge it into water?
