I smell home cookin!
This is a simple question, and I'll try to be clear in my description:

I'm framing a new studio, and I want to build my mix-down speakers as in-the-wall-mounted speakers, but at what height should they be at?

The ceiling is 8'10".
Speakers (15") will be mounted at a 30-degree angle 7 feet apart.
The ceiling will be paralell to the floor, although I could still slant it, since I'm still framing.
The walls on the left and right are angled by 6 degrees each
The simple answer, I suspect is: ear height.

Am I right?

Attached is a layout, created by the great Fitz.

Best would be on a median plane with your ears at the mix position.

I compromised between standing and sitting ear height. That way neither position is too far off axis, ideally less than 15 degrees.

That's what I thought.

Thanks guys!

I love it when things can be resolved easily. :D

Now if I can only figger' out how to pay for it all....

Actually, at 7 feet between them and mounted in the wall, I would imagine they would need to be a little higher up. If they are at ear height when you are sitting, then your gear will most likely be directly in the path and could change the sound a lot. Most soffit mounted speakers are mounted higher than typical nearfield heights.
